Brouwerij Van Steenberg
Van Steenberge brewery has been around since 1784 in the form of a farmland brewery in Flanders. Gradually, as it was passed down through the family brewing became its main operation, and the beers it produced kept pace with changing tastes through the First and Second World Wars.
In 1978, Van Steenberge acquired the yeasts and beer recipe from the Augustinian monks in Ghent. The resulting Augustijn ale and similar strong styles like Piraat and Gulden Draak became extremely popular, allowing Van Steenberge to ride the waves of the craft beer revolution.
