Domaine Chateau d'Eaux
In 1995, Moillard acquired 207 acres in ‘Pays d’Oc’, Domaine du Chateau D’Eau, which had belonged to Monsieur Henry de Monfreid, a writer-adventurer. A water tower was built on one of the farms and the new domaine was named after it: Chateau D’Eau. The vineyards are situated next to the town of Beziers in the region of Languedoc.
Today, the gentle sloping vineyard faces south to southeast, which leads to a picturesque pinewood forest. hectares (750 acres) belonging to the family of Henry de Montfreid, famous writer and adventurer. Back in 2002 the decision was taken for the majority of the vineyards to be grown according to the rules of lunar-organic viticulture. This type of vine-growing associates the rules of organic agriculture to the lunar cycles. The 2005 harvest was the first of the lunar-certified wines.
